Reverend Francis G. Morrisey, OMI, honorary member of the Canon Law Society of America, passed into eternal rest on the eve of the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord, Saturday, May 23, 2020.
A member of the CLSA since 1969, Fr. Morrisey received his doctorate in canon law from Saint Paul University in Ottawa. He was a notable speaker at many CLSA conventions and workshops and was the recipient of the prestigious Role of Law Award in 1990, for his outstanding example of the ideals exemplified in the Preamble of the Society's Constitution. Fr. Morrisey faithfully accepted his responsibility "to continue research and study and to assist any members of Christ's Body, singularly or collectively, laity or clergy, who will welcome the deliberations, research and common opinion of this Society." He was later recognized as an honorary member of the CLSA for his outstanding contributions in the field of canon law and continual support of the Society.
