Rev. Robert T. Kennedy

Reverend Robert T. Kennedy, a member of the Canon Law Society of America and a retired professor of the School of Canon Law at The Catholic University of America, passed into eternal rest on March 28, 2019, at the age of 89.

Father Kennedy was ordained a priest in the Archdiocese of New York on May 30, 1959, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Before joining the priesthood, Father Kennedy received his doctorate in civil law from Harvard Law School in 1953. Following his ordination, Father Kennedy was sent to study canon law at the Lateran University in Rome, where he obtained his J.U.D. degree in 1962.

Father Kennedy became a member of the Canon Law Society of America in 1962. He served as both vice-president (1969) and president (1970) of the Society and was the recipient of the Role of Law award in 1977. He devoted his time and talents to the Society through his committee work and several convention presentations, as well. For 30 years, Father Kennedy held the honor of the O’Brien-O’Connor Chair of Canon Law at the Catholic University of America.

On Sunday, April 7, 2019, a viewing will be held at the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc. from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The address for the viewing is as follows: 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road) Timonium, MD 21093.

A funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, April 8, 2019, at the Catholic Community of St. Francis Xavier, 13717 Cuba Road, Hunt Valley, Maryland 21030 at 10:00 am.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Theresa of Avila Church in West Roxbury, Massachusetts on Friday, April 12, 2019, at 11:00 am with interment at Holyhood Cemetery in Brookline, Massachusetts.
