Fr. Tom Anslow, C.M. entered into eternal life April 28, 2017 at Amat House, Los Angeles, CA. Tom was 71 years old.

Fr. Tom was born on February 21, 1946 in Bremerton, WA to Frances (Schauer) and Harold Anslow. He attended high school at Our Lady Queen of Angels Seminary and college at St. John’s Seminary College, Camarillo. Entering the internal seminary at Santa Barbara on August 11, 1966, he completed the second year of novitiate at Perryville in 1968. From St. Mary’s of the Barrens, Fr. Tom went on to DeAndreis in Lemont where he professed Vows on February 21, 1971 and then was ordained to the Priesthood on June 17, 1972 at St. Vincent’s, LA.

Fr. Tom’s education includes an MA in Philosophy in 1973 and an MA in Theology in 1975 (DePaul University), a Ph.D. in Philosophy in 1983 (University of Toronto), and a licentiate in Canon Law in 1996 (Catholic University Leuven, Belgium).

With his academic accomplishments, Fr. Tom served on seminary faculties at St. Mary’s Seminary, Perryville, from 1980-1985, and at St. John’s Seminary, Camarillo, from 1985-1991 and 1997-2000. Fr. Tom also served as a canon lawyer in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles beginning in 1996 and continuing into 2015 (Staff Canonist, 1996-1997; Judge, 1997-2015; Adjutant Judicial Vicar, 1997-2000; Judicial Vicar, 2000-2002; Vicar for Canonical Servies, 2002-2015). In 2015, Fr. Tom’s illness led to his taking medical leave from the Archdiocese.

In addition to his service to his Congregation as a treasurer, superior, committee member, and board member, Fr. Tom served as Treasurer of the Canon Law Society of America from 2007-2010, and as chair of the Committee on Resource and Asset Management. He was a contributor to Roman Replies and CLSA Advisory Opinions, and a regular Convention attendee.

Fr. Tom was a faithful priest and committed confrere. Please remember him, as well as his colleagues and community, in your prayers. May he rest in peace!
