We are pleased to announce that the Board of Governors has selected and contracted with FreshySites, a web development team from Binghamton, NY, to complete the process of web design, data management, and security associated with the CLSA website.

Moving forward, maintenance may require periodic interruptions to service. Maintenance periods may limit or prevent users from purchasing store items, making payments, or logging in with member credentials while the web development team works through migration and testing. The Administrative Office will make every effort to notify members in advance of these interruptions.

Please be aware that the CLSA office will continue to handle manual payment processing during normal business hours. Members who wish to make dues payments or request information from the office may do so by phoning (202) 832-2350. Publication orders will also be processed by phone. Please contact the Publications Warehouse at (301) 362-8197 to place an order.

The Board of Governors recognizes the important role the CLSA website plays in keeping members of the Society informed and connected. For this reason, the transition last fall and winter from the YourMembership platform to the WordPress platform and the indefinite suspension of the Member Directory in late-March have been problematic for everyone.

The Board of Governors discussed extensively the website at its April 2018 meeting. Rather than relying on one person to support the Society’s website, the Board determined that the website needs require a professional website team that can ensure data security and provide the integration of the various types of operations members have come to expect. An initial response to a Request for Proposal (RFP) from four established website developers was narrowed to two. While the Board initially thought that the current website could be fixed, both vendor-finalists reaffirmed that the CLSA website would benefit from a significant redesign to meet the Society’s short-term and long-term goals. The two vendors have been requested to submit revised proposals to redesign the CLSA website. Once the Board selects the website team, work on the redesign will begin.

In the meantime, the CLSA website remains in operation. Society documents and the online store are fully functional. Electronic files continue to be added and streamlined for download. By logging in, members can access the Research Database and, by mid-July, renew their dues and register for the October convention in Phoenix, Arizona. Until that time, the administrative office will manually process dues and Convention registrations by phone. The Member Directory will remain suspended until a web developer has been hired.

The Board of Governors and the Administrative Office sincerely regret the inconvenience to CLSA members and remain committed to returning the CLSA website to full functionality. Updates will be provided as they become available.
